Some landscapes deserve to simply be left alone,
exempt from our relentless thirst for natural resources.

We are a small family-run private foundation, based on a remote working ranch along the Utah/Colorado border.

We support passionate, strategic, clearly-focused non-profit organizations, coalitions, and specific projects to save our beloved places.

We admire those who find ways to accomplish conservation in collaboration with those who feel threatened by it.

As a small foundation, we can't fund everywhere...

The Colorado Plateau, in addition to being spectacular, is home, and it's important to us to preserve the natural integrity of our backyard.

The northern rainforests have been home in the past, and are globally unique. More old-growth temperate rainforest remains along North America's northern coast than anywhere else in the world. Models indicate that this region will serve as an important refugia in a world ever more fraught by climate chaos. With a low human density, superlative natural value, and relatively few organizations working to conserve it, the northern rainforest belt is a wise investment.

A typical grant is between $5,000 and $15,000, though we make exceptions for the right opportunities.

We greatly value grant matching, and encourage you to work with other potential funders and us towards matching grants. We do not fund large, well-resourced organizations ~ grants of our size make far more of a difference to smaller organizations.

Proposals requesting smaller dollar amounts to, for example, produce a map for a citizen's Wilderness proposal, or to produce a short video in support of a conservation campaign will be very competitive. A larger-dollar request for general support will be least competitive and must be for an organization really right up our alley.

We will reach out to you if we think your organization is a fit.
